This recent body of work is many things to me: an ode to my obsession with detail, a love letter to the human figure, a joyful - and frankly, surprising - synthesis of explosive color and loose mark making. More than this however, these pieces represent a shift in my practice towards risk, that quality that elevates the materials to something beyond canvas, oil and pigment. As one whose artistic tastes have always veered towards the visually literal, the importance of this change cannot be understated; far too often I have found myself wedded to the reference material to the point of stagnation, resulting in work that, while technically proficient, was increasingly less enjoyable to create.

I had heard about your virtual tour that it was to be at 6:30 pm PT so I missed it. I want to congratulate you for all your work.
